A note for anyone looking to pixel peep you are watching a highly compressed version from around 220mb/s down to my upload of around 14mb/s and the vimeo stream of 5mb/s. This will add compression artefacts especially on any shots with the BMD fine noise like the candle light shots of the cats. I will try and upload a higher bit rate version of that soon, but not the original. It’s too damn big!
An add on to my original, and rather long, review of the the Canon EF mount version. You must have watched that review as you won’t be getting the whole story. So please watch with a nice big box of popcorn! vimeo.com/50394211
This makes more sense, generally, than the EF version but with LOTS of caveats. I don’t go into most of them in the video to keep it tight but please read about them in my new blog post. It’s important!! wp.me/s3ggTR-bmdmft
This just looks at the differences between the two and if the MFT mount makes a difference. It does image wise but it’s not active an active mount which causes many other issues, generally financial and also practical. It’s better in many ways than the EF but if you own no MFT glass and lots of EF glass then the decision is a lot harder. The camera in both forms is far from perfect. Check out the above linked review for more.
The camera I used is a BETA version so all features are subject to change.
There are loads more thoughts and more in depth analysis on my blog post below…please read it as I am sure it will answer many of your questions: wp.me/s3ggTR-bmdmft
